Nguyen Thuy Lam - Miss Universe Vietnam 2008 - Miss Vietnam 2008
Nguyen Thuy Trang (also known as Thuy Lam) was crowned as the Miss Universe Vietnam 2008 in a beauty contest held on May 31st, 2008 at Nha Trang’s Vinpearl Land Resort. Along with US$12,000 crown, she also won VND100 million ($6,060) and a $2,000 scholarship to study English. Moreover, She was also awarded the Miss Talent, Miss Vote and Miss Best Interview awards in the same event.
She used to live in Germany and is fluent in both English and German. She along with 1st runner up Vo Hoang Yen and 2nd runner up Duong Truong Thien Ly outperformed 17 other women at the Miss Vietnam Contest.
She is also a popular Vietnamese Singer and a TV actress. The 20 year old beauty queen will now represent Vietnam and be the host contestant at the Miss Universe 2008 beauty pageant in July, 2008.
After winning, the title of Miss Universe Vietnam 2008, she said:
"Tonight is the most unforgettable night of my life,"
"All of my counterparts are wonderful and I am proud of our efforts. I would like to extend my gratitude to my family and all my Vietnamese friends, whose support gave me the confidence to be the winner tonight as well as the encouragement to fulfill my dreams at the international level, I will try my best at Miss Universe."
